Dear Au Pair,

Thank you for considering our family. We live in the countryside outside Arklow town. We live in a two story house on a sheep and potato farm. Our next door neighbour has cows and another neighbour has horses. Our home is 4kms from Arklow town.

Arklow is a seaside town with good train and bus links to Dublin. We are about one hours drive from Dublin. There is a swimming pool, cinema, library , shopping centre, sailing club, sports centre and lots of sports clubs. There are lots of evening courses and activities to do in the town.

My husband works in Dublin from Monday to Friday. He is gone from early in the morning and is not home until seven or eight in the evening. I work as a primary school teacher in Arklow town. I teach 5-6 year olds, the senior infants class. My teaching hours are from nine in the morning until three in the afternoon.

We have three children, Darragh who is five, Molly who has just turned four and Hugh who is twenty-two months old.

Darragh comes to school with me every day and gets a lift to our home with a neighbour just after 2 O’clock. Molly goes to playschool. I leave her to school in the mornings. Two mornings a week her grandfather collects her from school and she goes to her grandmothers for lunch which is just up the lane from our house. Molly will be going to playschool four or five days a week and will be home after twelve o’clock on the days she does not go for lunch.

Hugh is at home everyday. We hope that our new au pair will be willing to bring him to a mum/minder and toddler playgroup one or two mornings a week. We will organise a taxi to bring you both home and collect Molly from playschool on the way home.

My husbands mother goes shopping in the town two mornings a week and our current au pair uses the opportunity to get a lift into town as there is no direct bus link from our house to Arklow. She goes for a walk and to the playground with Hugh.

Our current au pair has her own room which has a double bed. Her room is down stairs while the rest of the family sleep upstairs. There is a bathroom beside the bedroom which is used by the children at bath time. The playroom with a second television is beside the au pairs room.

We have a large garden with a slide and a trampoline. The children love being out doors, going for walks and playing in the garden. As a family, we go for walks and picnics most weekends. We go swimming on occasions. The children love helping out in the garden. We have a dog and a rabbit.

Our current au pair loves horse riding and spends a lot of time on a local stud farm. I usually drive her there and collect her.

I look forward to chatting with the au pair over a cup of tea when I come in from work and we go to the cinema together sometimes. I enjoy having the adult company in the house and we have become good friends.

Our first experience of having an au pair has been a very successful one. Sabrina is part of the family, the children love her and she has made great friends in the area. We are all looking forward to another great year with a new au pair.

Looking forward to hearing from you.

Yours
Rebecca
